INDW vs BANW, Women’s World Cup, Live Updates: India were further blown away by the run-out of Harmanpreet Kaur as the batting side went four wickets down after losing Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma and Mithali Raj in quick succession earlier against Bangladesh in Hamilton. Openers Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana started magnificently and gave India a solid start but both departed for 42 and 30 runs respectively to get Bangladesh back in the game. However, India received a big blow when Mithali fell for a duck on the first ball. Spinner Ritu Moni took two wickets in two balls. (LIVE SCORECARD)
India made one change, bringing in Poonam Yadav in place of Meghna Singh while Lata Mondal and Murshida Khatun came into the Bangladesh side. If India manages to win their remaining two matches against Bangladesh and South Africa, then they will qualify for the last-four stage. Team India had lost their last match against Australia while Bangladesh suffered a narrow four-run loss against West Indies. Bangladesh who are currently at the seventh spot in the points table while India currently have four points from five games.
India Women (Playing XI): Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, Yastika Bhatia, Mithali Raj(c), Harmanpreet Kaur, Richa Ghosh(w), Sneh Rana, Pooja Vastrakar, Jhulan Goswami, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Poonam Yadav
Mithali Raj at the toss: “We’ll have a bat. The same wicket was used for the last game. It’s slow and there’s turn for spinners. We would like to use the wicket first and put up a good score. It was a good game (against Australia). As a fielding unit, we couldn’t back our bowlers when it was required. The wicket will probably assist the spinners and we’d like our fielding unit to stand up. We’d like the batters to bat sensibly. We have just one change. Poonam Yadav comes in place of Meghna Singh.”
Promoted
Bangladesh Women (Playing XI): Sharmin Akhter, Murshida Khatun, Fargana Hoque, Nigar Sultana(w/c), Rumana Ahmed, Ritu Moni, Lata Mondal, Salma Khatun, Nahida Akter, Fahima Khatun, Jahanara Alam
Nigar Sultana at the toss: “We’d have batted as well. But our bowling unit has done a wonderful job throughout the tournament. This is a lucky ground for us and we’d like to implement in this match. We want to restrict them to a good total. We have two changes. Murshida and Lata come in.”
